Watercolor pencil Iris

Well i broke out my watercolor pencils to give them another try.  I've been working on some tutorials from the school of Anna Mason art so i haven't had a lot of time to create cards. I have 2 Birthdays this week and i haven't gotten them done yet so i had to put it in fast motion to get them done. Here is one. I drew the iris looking at a photo in a book.
My Mother-in-laws favorite color is purple so i was right on this iris. lol

I've signed up for Anna Masons watercolor painting class and this is what i made the night before last using her reference photo. I love learning her techniques.  I'm so happy that i signed up! Now i do have to say that i don't have all of the correct colors of paint in the same brand that she uses to do some of her courses.  That isn't stopping me though. I'm making due with what i have and i've ordered a few more. I did paint her daffodil last night but i don't like my version at all. lol. I will not be sharing that.
I 'll use this as a card to send for Easter possibly

Just Keep Swimming!

I Broke out more of my Hero Arts layering stamps and made this cute octopus. I tried a new technique for the backgound of this card. I made it look like a watercolor background using Hampton Art inks and water on Bristol. I love the result! The sentiment i had in my stash and is from Whimsy Stamps.

A Duck in Watercolor

I would say that i'm addicted now to watercolors. I painted this duck last week and forgot to post it. I really dislike the rocks that i put in the background (I know i don't like the rocks either) It Does give me a goal though.  Now i have to learn to paint rocks. lol. I think that i may use this painting to make my Dads Birthday card. I did not have a reference photo for the background on this one but i did find a duck photo.

Beautiful flowers everywhere

Getting ready to spend the day with my Dad and Mom at the Indianapolis home show and thought that i'd share some flowers that i watercolored. I'm really love learning the whole process. The Color Wheel and complimentary colors etc... I know that i learned this when i was a kid but now i'm actually enjoying it. lol!

I didn't really have a reference photo for these. I just found different flowers and started drawing and putting them together.

A Gorgeous Rose in Watercolor

Hi Friends! It's been awhile since i've posted so i thought that i'd share how my watercoloring is coming along. I drew this gorgeous rose and watercolored it with my Winsor & Newton Watercolors. I think that this rose will make a beautiful card.

This was colored on 140# Cold Press Fabriano watercolor paper.

Yes, here is another photo of a bird that i drew and painted with watercolor. I've also been trying to work on a horse for my daughter. Now that's slow going. lol. Not only any horse but her horse. I'm trying but it isn't easy.

Look at what i've painted now! A chubby looking Chickadee

 It's not perfect, but i'm sure loving doing it. lol!

I bought the Van Gogh palette of watercolors from a little shop here in my town that was going out of business for 50 percent off. They say that it's not the watercolor paints but the artist who creates a great painting. I really don't know but i do know that it isn't easy mixing colors for the color that you desire. It's going to take me a very long time to get the feel for that. I do know that a brush can make you or break you. I bought the Silver black velvet brushes in a few sizes and i really love those.

Drawing and watercolor painting a Rose

Happy New Year Everyone!

For about the last month or so i've been trying to practice Watercolor painting after i draw an image using a reference Photo.  I still need a lot of work but i really want to do this! lol. I've been watching video's on youtube. I found this artist that i really like to watch. The Mind of Watercolor is what it's Called. He teaches the basics including the color wheel, washes, etc... If you have any desire in watercoloring i highly recommend this man.
